thickening edges

quickie, I want to add some depth to these edges - whats the best way to do it?

extrude edge, I'd imagine.

yeah that's what I did in the end, just seems a bit messy to me. I thought there might be another method people used.

No, that's pretty much the oneuser added image

Don't ever be surprised if you end up getting lost in a sea of extruded edges. (like my current project)

Just keep an eye on those edges that you WILL forget to merge sometimes, and watch those normals and non-manifold faces and you should be okuser added image
