Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

model rejecting materials with textures

I've purchased a very detailed polygonal model of a human skeleton online recently (www.3dcadbrowser), and when applying a material with a texture attached (a simple lambert with a jpg file texture for the colour), the model becomes semitransparent (it becomes thin horizontal lines) and won't render the material (it renders just flat grey). I've put the same material on other polygonal objects (that I've made) in the same scene without problems. The skeleton model will render simple materials with colours chosen - but it seems to completely reject any textures (this also includes 3D textures).

The file of the skeleton was in obj format.

Does anybody know why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Thank you!

It sounds like it needs to be UV mapped.
