Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Texturing

I've made a tower structure in maya and when I apply the UV map to texture it it keeps applying the same texture to the rest of the model. I've only applied the map to the part i want to texture and it's still texturing the entire thing. When I try to apply a new texture to a different part it also textures everything and retextures the bit I did previously. What's going on?? Please help.

No. I'm just doing some test textures at the moment so i'm using the 3d textures withing maya but i've made 2 different ones and it just keeps applying them to the whole thing.

I tried uploading it but it didn't seem to want to. Any ideas about what I could be doing wrong to make the textures not work?

the only thing I could think is that your UV's are overlapping or are on top of one another.

If you could perhaps post some screenshots of your model, UV window and your hypershade?
