Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Jan/Feb - Huxley - Noob

Well... I guess I've been playing around with Maya long enough without actually producing anything. So it's time for me to try a challenge.

My concept is going to be a laptop computer capable of kicking serious a$$.

I can think of so many special moves for this guy that picking just one is going to be a real pain!

Wish me luck!

if not just make a stick figure. at least youll then have stuck through to the end.

After all, mines only a stick figure... although titanium... with lazers....

no problem, just dont beat me too bad. Your laptops main attack could be a computer virus, i think there are about 4 mechas being made...

Well, I decided to go for it. But I politely have to ask Mike if it is within competition rules to change my concept. The laptop concept, although good, would take a great deal more work than I had time for. So, I would like to try something a little more "traditional".

My new concept is a Manga Fighter... a Manga style warrior... kind of mech-ish but we'll see. Hey I'm a noob... gotta do a mech at some point right?

Anyway, I spent an hour modeling the legs this evening and here's how it looks so far:

Legs look nice. And from other threads you can see changing your concept is perfectly acceptable.

Nice mecha like manga charactor so far. Im surprised to see how many mechas are in this competition already.

Yeah. I did have a little head start on some late entrees here. i was a late entree myself. But its been one steady learning curve the whole time.

We model are mechas the same style, legs up(discounting my current mech).

Yours so far reminds me of a NGE mech. And ive seen some of your models. You will catch up to me in no time.
