grouping layers together?

I can't find anything about this in the Help pages.

Is there any way to put Display Layers into groups, for easier management?

I have a scene that's getting out of control. Each character has 4 different layers (skin, skeleton, IK handles etc) and there are loads of characters. It would be great to be able to create a folder (in the layers window) for each character and put all their layers inside (as you can do in Photoshop, for instance).

Does Maya have this capability?

Cheers,

Mike
