Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

c4d vs maya, bunch of questions...

Hi,
I just joined the forum and could use a little help on getting situated with Maya. I am coming to Maya from c4d which I use for animation production. I know that the two programs have many parallels and since I'm new to Maya I could use some pointers on learning some of those parallel features.

For example, in c4d there is the Hair Module which is very useful for making instant hair/fur/grass... 1) if there is a similar feature in Maya what is it called? Another important part of my c4d production involves Bodypaint which is a complicated module used for skinning the mesh and UV texturing the polys in a 2d environment. 2) So how do Maya users typically skin & texture their meshes? I got one more burning question... 3) in Maya, what does the mocap pipeline generally look like? In c4d, motionbuilder is often used as the gobetween for retargetting the mocap skeleton to the c4d mesh (via .fbx), it works well, but as I vaguely understand with Maya there is no converting of filetypes during this part of production and production doesn't leave Maya's environment... are there any tutorials/threads that might outline this proceedure so that I can begin to understand how to do mocap with Maya?

Kind Regards,
BuckyT
