Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Alien Holo Gate (...whatever...)

Hi there!

I just more or less finished a scene I did primarily for practice reasons - or maybe just because I wanted to do it anyway.

I would love to get some crits from you.

Find the AVI clip here (640x480, Xvid, 6 MB):

This is actually not the whole clip, just an excerpt, but the essential stuff is there. Not much really, but it was fun to do.

Looks good. Was it all done in Maya?

Cheers
Paul

PS: the file size is fine.

Glad to hear about the file size.

The frames were rendered out from Maya and put together in Combustion (DOF, MotionBlur, CC).

A good deal of light linking was involved to get the illumination right. I also used a light rig that only casts shadows but doesn't illuminate. And last not least, I learned the hard way what the Dmap Auto Focus setting is for.
