This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
I had a rest from maya but now that I'm back. I'm making a robot this time. I sketched him yesterday but hes familiar so I dont want to say hes my design, I thought about him and sketched what i remembered from when i saw him. I saw him on a site but anyways. I'm modelling him If anyone ever met this guy on the net I would like to know who designed him so I give credit Heres the head modelled
no wondering i havnt seen you post lately masteryoda, welcome back dude cant wait to see your work again,
about the robot, yeah it looks similar from what i have seen somewhere just cant remember, im probably wrong but i think maya it was in alias site about maya... looking good so far though, i really love how you pushed the eyes back and the general shape of it, looking forward to see more... cheers, marlon
hey, when are you going to release your tut about clay render? i been waiting for ages :p
hi marlonjohn, sorry I'm taking long to do it, doing exams at them moment and this is why i havent been around lately, but dont worry it will soon be up Heres my progress on the robot. I changed some stuff from the original robot i knew
Heres more, I just began the arms, Now you can get a basic view on how hes actually gonna be arms not finished yet, need more details. The hands are just basic ones i got from an other model i made, until I make his proper hands. C & C are most welcome
i can't help but feel that with as squat as your character is, either his arms are too long or his legs aren't long enough... cause if he puts his arms down he's gonna have gorilla-syndrome (arms dragging on the floor, or close to it, anyway) or maybe his head is too big. i dunno, but there's something off proportionally.
i do like the simplicity of the model, though. looks good, and feels like it belongs like that - it's not forced.
I actually like his short torso - I think it works really well with the big head - sort of like a baby robot, if you know what I mean. Not so sure about the upper arms - for me, the shape used doesn't really fit with the rest of the shapes that you have used.
He sort of reminds me of blue from the foundation books and as others have mentioned, marvin from the hitchhikers guide...
