Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Skinning / Binding overlap...

Hi all - Skinning / Binding question -

If you have a character with bulgy loose
pants that meet in the middle, how do
you make sure to only bind the left leg
with the left skeleton, and the right leg
with the right skeleton?

Seems when I bind, some points from the
right leg are dragged along when I move the
left joints and vice versa.

Any help would be appreciated!

Daniel

if your model is made up of several pieces of geometry, select the piece of geo (just a leg for example) select the leg skeleton and tell it to bind to selected joints when you bind instead of the whole skeleton

if you've already bound it, depending on which bind method u used, you can either paint set memberships (tell it which CVs belong to which bone) which is a rigid method, or paint skin weights, which is smooth bind
