This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Nomanifold-problem!

Hi

I'm trying to make a rim to a car in maya but i have got some problems when i want to convert the model from polys to subD's.

I read in the script editor and it told me to use the cleanup tool with nomanifold option. What happened is shown in the image.
But what du i do now, if i delete these faces it gets all messed up.

Help please, what is the problem??

check the normals on the highlighted faces. If they're reversed that would give you a nonmanifold result.

Go to edit polys>Normals>reverse normals or check the menu, to reverse and propagate.

Also because you are using subds, check for any history in the hypergraph, its usually called blind data, just delete those nodes.

You also have an n-sided polygon going on there that needs cleaning up (you could clean it up like how I've highlighted in red....)
