Mental Ray Paint Effects

Can someone tell me why my paint effects dont show up when i do a mental ray render?? Maya 5.0 Win 2k

Currently, I believe you need to convert your PFX to polys for MR to have an effect on themuser added image

that is correct. Mental Ray won't render Paint FX unless its been converted to poly (which you'll need maya 5 for).
