Okay... I have downloaded a lot of plug-ins is there a universal way to install these or am I about to embark on a journey of fumbling my way till they work?... is there a default place to install these files or what?... help PLZ! THX

yes the default place would be : .....aw\Maya\bin\plug-ins, after you copied the files here (typical *.mll files)
fire up maya, and go window->settings and preferences->plug-in manager to activate the new plugins...

Thanks! What about the MEL files... there are 3 diferent folders that say scripts... Hmmm getting good at Maya and now I'm a newbie again it seems! Funny how that works! THX undo!

they'll generally go into the X:\Documents and Settings\user_name\My Documents\maya\4.5\scripts, though there are some exceptions. best try and find the installation instructions user added image
