ok had another play with him, the eye shader is not the real thing and is only to see what he might look like.

I am not to sure about the vine/twine round his legs, maybe something like that on his forearms attaching a weapon to his arm or something like that but then this is your model so feel free to ingore me.

Nice going with this so far. Not sure about the wires my self. The texture I think is nice and fits well. Really kind of digging it.. It reminds me of the creature from the black lagoon. I'm wandering though if you can go with a displacement though instead of a bump.

Thanks pony ..I have ditched the vines on the legs but still might do something with the arms.A displacement is a great idea, I wish I new how to go about making and using one ..hehe.
I am a sixmonth newbie and haven't really done any texturing before and no displacements at all as yet.
Would be really good if could you point me in the right direction Pony.

ah.. LOL I haven't used one yet my self.. Just know they look good. Know how to spot when a bump isn't enufe. I'll be at that point in a couple days on mine. I'll tell ya all about my adventrues with it when I do. OK ?

btw. what are you rendering in ?? You probably said somewhere but I didn't catch it.

thanks pony ..the last few renders were just the maya software renderer, a few of the first renders were hardware renders.
I still haven't completely got to grips with rendering yet..lol Mental ray can be a little hit and miss with me, but oh well will get there in the end.

I have done some work on the eyes and changed my rendering to Mental Ray ..this was rendered with global illumination.
