light / reflection seems to be cut off along the edge

I am not sure why after merging the vertices as shown circled in orange, the light / reflection seems to be cut off along the edge. Why does that happen and how can I solve this problem? please

Thank you.

Try selecting the whole model and re apply the shader, I think you have joined two meshes with different shaders, this can also happen when you do a extrude the new mesh has the lambert1 assigned to it.............dave

Yes, I merged to different objs as I was modeling in pieces. Assigned a new material as suggested and it worked. Thank you again dave, as always.
