help with lighting please

ok i am new to the lighting stuff and i was wondering if any1 could tell me how to do something. i have made a little scene below of a poly plane for the ground and a poly cube with some cut out faces. i want light to shing through poly cube and make shadows on the poly ground.

You can tern on the Dmap shadows on to the light. That should get you started.

Create a point light on top of the object.
