July/Aug - Normal - NiaSyn

Hi there, this is my first time putting up a WIP.. I've been using maya for 2 months now, max for a few years as a hobby. I'm hoping this project will help me learn some new awesome things about maya.

The scene is going to be a doomed space station, falling into the atmosphere of a planet, along with lots of debris, with a sun/gas clouds in the background.

Haha, yeah. I figured I'd put a better one up, since when I came up with the idea for the scene i didn't really have anything laid out on paper. I like to do more detailed sketches of the intricate bits, like orthographic ones.

Yeah, i got some more modeling done yesterday, will post a new render shortly. Just learning about displacement maps recently, still have a ways to go. But the contest isn't over til August 30-ish right?

Hmmm.. Well I started a new concept. Basically it'll be this simple scene with a candle/flashlight illuminating a pair of shadow puppets, a cartoony guy running from a silly looking monster. But the shadows they throw up on the wall will depict a truly scary monster ripping the guy to shreds. :-D
