scaling a figure and its skeleton

Can anybody tell me if it's possible to scale a figure after it has been rigged and bound? I have tried but I just get weird deformations.

group them together and rescale the group

actually no, my bad, that only works if you parented the object to the skeleton

select all joints and scale them all

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Computer skills I should have:
Objective C, C#, Java, MEL. Python, C++, XML, JavaScript, XSLT, HTML, SQL, CSS, FXScript, Clips, SOAR, ActionScript, OpenGL, DirectX
Maya, XSI, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Motion, Illustrator, Flash, Swift3D
