Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

renderer (mental ray renderman)

So what is the preferred rendering engine? I have read around here that Render-Man is more efficient (if not then please correct me). Is that the only thing that makes it better then mental ray. Or IS it better? I haven't found this in the forums so I thought I would start the thread. If there IS a current thread please add link here and we can close this one.

It's not the tool, it is how you use it.
You can get great results with either, but Mental Ray is free with maya, and Renderman costs a lot...
I say stick with Mental Ray until you learn what the different settings mean.
