Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Nov/Dec - Orc - Western - GreyFox - Noob

I'm doing an Orc Western style baby!

And also, low-poly. (Might do a high-res render of him too, though)

Worked on the head today, here are some screens:

It's 392 Triangular Polys so far.

Here's a perspective view:

Looking forward to that. I love the western theme. Just so you know, you can use photos from the movie like that, but you would score better in the final judging if you don't.

Ok.. that don't matter much. Still had to work alot with the front, back, upper, and bottom part of his facial texture.

And it was a little hard working only from one reference picture.

He looks so cool though user added image

(Picture him in a cowboy hat, ready for a shootout with revolvers in his hands user added image)

Attached the texture with an addition (the picture I used to create the ear for the green larger version) :bgreen:

First of all, that is looking great. I really like the texturing.

Secondly, this seems perhaps too good for a 'noob' to do.......I mean, you've been at the forum 7 months user added image I might as well quit now if I have to compete against this.

Maybe I'm not a noob then... but compared to many others here......

But I havn't used Maya for 7 months.

2-3 Months perhaps. Although I did use 3D Studio Max before, but I never really understood the program then.

Well, if you consider me "too good" for a noob, just upgrade me. But I hardly think that will happen user added image

Here's the Orc with a low-poly Cowboy hat.

The texture is far from finished, just a base.
Did some work on the face texture aswell.

EDIT: Btw, I could remove about 45 Polys from the head now that he got a hat on top of it.

Well, I'm not sure I'm going to do an enviroment for the guy. But if I do, it will be a typical western town, with a sandy road, a sallon door, etc user added image

And a perspective view.

Might lenghten the pipe some later, to make it more intimitating, and maybe add some "Orcish" feel to it user added image
