Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

blotchy model

user added image

Does anyone know why there are blotches on this model? There are some around the other side of the model aswell. The model was made using connectPolyShape aswell (only working on one side, which is the side with the blotches on).

that's weird. Are you using GI_Joe? Is there anything inside the shape?

Oh yea, sorry the render is with GI_Joe and the model is just itself, there nothing inside of it.

that is pretty strange - if you could post a shot of the wire we might be able to find the problem. .... hopefully! :-)

Sure no problem, heres the screen for normal rendering, one with GI_Joe and one of the wireframe. It appears to be rendering normally but when I use GI_Joe I get those odd blotches.

I really am not sure. I'd try using normal 3 point lighting and see if it still shows up, as I'd wager a guess that it has something to do with GI_Joe.

I managed to get it looking better than that horrible greyscale type render look, after Pony suggested something in the Clay? thread I started that I can get that look without using GI_Joe.

Must have been GI_Joe as Mike said, although i'm not that fluent with Maya to understand why user added image
