problem files?!

Has anyone else ever had a file(s) that become unwieldy? I have worked with some dense files and have done everything that I know to do to make them work efficiently. I have deleted the history and optimized the scene. I have even reduced geometry and rebuilt the lights. After a time, it seems that the file simply becomes "unworkable." It takes forever to load and execute commands. In such situations, I have reverted to earlier versions of the same or similar files and they work flawlessly. Has anyone else had a similar experience with what could only be called the 'problem file syndrome.'

Yup, I sure have, but I put that down to my processor speed, memory, and videocard. There's always a ceiling, just depends on your setup.

Convulsing my frame and cracking my bones

Crawl into my caves to suck out my veins.....
