Questions on how to do sprites...

Hi there...

This is my first post... no, no... hold your applause user added image

I am relitivly new to maya and loving what I have learned so far, but have a long way to go...

Got a question about sprites... my understanding is that you have to build the sprite image in Photoshop and then import it into maya, but what images will maya import in and if there are many, which is best... also, I've heard that you can import a series of sprites as an animated series and use them with the emmitter ( or something like that)

Any help is appreciated user added image

Kind regards,

After creating your sprite particles, go to Particles > Sprite Wizard. In this little wizard, you select your series of sprite images. Make sure that your sprite images are using the naming convention of Name.# where "name" is obviously the name of the file (all with the same name) and "#" is 1-20 or however many you have in sequance.

For example:

smoke.1.tga
smoke.2.tga
smoke.3.tga
etc.
