Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Oct/Nov - Normal - HPorter

Okay, I am in... It will be a miracle if i finish, but what the heck. It will be good to get back at it with a challenge,,,

first sketch: thinking of something along the lines of this - a gnarly tree, a sword and a skull. Stylized not too realistic and hopefully much more creepy than this sketch. user added image

thnx mike!

looking back at the sketch... not very nightmare-ish :/ I willtry and amp it up some...

here are my first efforts, started the sword.... right now i am thinking low poly... i will block out the scene first and then add detail where needed. I dont have much time, so I want to move quick and dirty and cleanup at the end user added image

Thanks guys... its all coming back to me now, well almost all. I still have to use alot of the pull down menus, because ive forgotten the hot keysuser added image

anyway here is a bit of an update, i am keeping the elements fairly simple because everything will be pretty far from the camera. Plus the lighting will be a killer for me, I am pretty gun shy about that part.

later!

Learning new things is what these comps are all about, hence the lighting focus. user added image
