Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Quadro4 750 XGL

Hi all

Today I have purchased a Quadro4 750 XGL (€300 for a new, unused device seemed like a pretty good deal to me...!).

Up until now, i used to run a GeForce TI4600, with SoftQuadroed (aka hacked) 30.82 detonator drivers.

What I want to know is: which of the newer drivers are good? With good I mean stable...performance is a bonus, but being stable is much more important.

Any good info here?

Thanks!

Stupidly I bought one of these around August of this year, I wish I had bought an FX500 instead. I only say that because although it works O.K. most of the time when you are using a dual-monitor setup you can get a glitchy interface on both monitors!

Mind you I am running Maya 5.01 under W2K I don't know if the same problem exists under XP. If you look at the Hardware qualification charts:

https://www.alias.com/eng/support/may...#nVidiaQuadro4

It actually says that driver version 43.51 for Windows XP is fine but it's still being 'in progress' for W2K. I installed the 43.51 drivers then I tried the latest drivers and it helped a bit under 2K.

If I were you use XP with the 43.51 drivers. If you look at Nvidia's driver page:

https://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

It too, will suggest driver version 43.51 for XP and W2K. Having just looked at it I might grab that newer driver 52.14 and try that. If you are using Maya 4.5 then you need driver 30.82 but it has dual monitor problems like the 43.51 under W2K:

https://www.alias.com/eng/support/may...ya_45_NT.html;$sessionid$SP0OYCSC43TFLQCLCWSCFEWAJMK0KIV0#nVidia Quadro4

Hope these tips help. Please let me know if you have any joy with the 43.51 and what your system is!

I have already installed the 43.51 drivers, as they are WHQL and Alias certified - and nobody seems to know of better drivers.

I ran 30.82 drivers with my hacked TI4600 in a dual-monitor setup under w2k and had no problems with this (I am now with WinXP, as I have to use some software that is XP only by now).

Thanks for the tips, gazzamataz!
