Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Noob needing help with face tearing

user added image
Hi, i am a very very noob user with Maya. I have started creating a 3D model of an iPhone. While modeling it, the wire frame image looks fine. However when i push the "3" button to view the model in a smoother fashion i have all kinds of tearing on my faces. I have not encountered this on my other models that i have made (Coke can, wine glass etc). Any information would be of great help! Thank you.

I have posted a few images of my issue.

Try and clean up those stray lines, three on the apple and one on that hole section. geometry needs to be uniform like you have on the corners.

Did a quick hole, combined cube and tube, hit button 3.
