screen capture rendering

I want to make a tutorial and i was wondering what the software was to make screen capture movies. Basically i just want to be able to record all the activities going on the screen or the output to the monitor and turn that into a movie. I know thats possible, I just don't know what the software is. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.

Thanx

Convulsing my frame and cracking my bones
Hell's dragons of steel who roar in their chains
Crawl into my caves to suck out my veins.....
