Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Gun Tutorial

Does anyone know where I can find a good gun modelling tutorial. I want to have a realistic looking hand gun and to detach some of the componets but can' think how to start.

Any help you can give would be great user added image

Buy a gun user added image Just kidding. But What you could do is pop down to a toy shop (Hamleys on Regent Street springs to mind) and look for replicas and buy one if possible. If not then look for blueprints online and model from there....

I have some alright (ish) pics of a gun, it's just how to start the modelling. Im thinking of curves and lofting but I was jsut curious to know if any of you had found a tutorial to save me getting into trouble later when I come to texturing later etc.

Cheers for the suggestion though user added image

Low Poly, High-Powered Gun
Hand Gun Modelling Tutorial

The hand gun tut is for Max but the modeling principles are generally the same. Poly would be the easier way I think but try it with nurbs as well...see what you come up with...a gun is really just based on cubes and cylinders, right?

The gun type would seriously alter how to make it.

Ide stick with polies(maybe because i dont know nurbs) with some subd for maybe the handle.

Im going to try and model the 454 Casull from Hellsing, for those of you that don't know what it looks like it's a big fat long pistol. I've started it in Polys because I want to have the pieces seperate.

If I so it well I will post pictures.
