Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

highlighted faces on the authoring stage

Hi everybody,
I am using the video tutorial make a simply man from kevin.
I would like to know how he quickly moves between camera tools roll zoom etc

and when he right clicks for face before excruding face this highlights to show he has chosen it then with shift clicks again leaving say both shoulders highlighted. My program maya 4 can excrude but it does not high light the faces it would help to have this happen??

I havent seen this tut, but I use the Alt key and the three mouse/pen buttons.

Alt + RMB to Zoom (if I remember correctly)
and Alt + MMB to Pan or move the camera up/down/left/right
and Alt + LMB to rotate the camera around its "end-point".

Press "t" on your keybard to show the manipulators/arrows when working with lights.

just a quick correction

to zoom (dolly i believe) you use alt + LMB + MMB

zooms also called dolly (i think), pan is track, and rotate is orbit. just for when you hear terms like "orbit around the sphere" user added image

Alt + RMB works in Maya 4.5 (alt + LMB + MMB still works).

And, for the record:

Dolly = Zoom
Track = Pan
Tumble = Orbit/Rotate

Think real-world camera terminology.
