Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

GI is an approximation of real light that bounces on walls etc. Mostly used for indoor scenes, since you're using HDRI there's really no point using GI. And by looks of your scene using GI would be useless.

Keep it up though, looking good.

I think the lighting looks fine so far. You might want to start to add a bit of dirt to the model, also it the glass a plane or a small cube as it looks a little "flat" so to speak

Maybe add a background cos that's making it look a little dark. Maybe a wall or a building. Nothing fancy. Just to give it a bit of context.

the shape of the hole throught the glass looks a little too uniform to me. you should probably make the shadows softer for added realism.

Have you tried the "shatter" tool to get a random edge for the glass??

its in the dynamics menu, under effects create shatter, you probably would want the crack shatter.
