Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Mirroring Faces

Hello, I am new to maya 2008 and I have purchased Learning Autodesk Maya 2008: The Modeling & Animation Handbook.

My problem is that I am in project 01 pg. 37, and I am trying to use the Edit>Duplicate Special to mirror my faces of Leon's Torso. I am wondering after that it says to set Geometry Type to Instace, but I am new to maya and I don't know where to find the Geometry Type.

Can anyone help me with my problem, and is there an better way to mirror faces?

Thanks in advance

The best way to do it is go to the duplicate menu and with your geometry selected, select instance. In the X axis (it may be the z axis depending on the direction your model is facing)put in -1, this will then flip your geometry, in other words mirror it.

Instances of geometry will then update straight away every time you make an adjustment to the original half....

have fun

Hi,

Don't just click on the text "duplicate special" - click on the square box next to the words to open its option box.

cheers
