Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

3D Printing

Hey, guys,

I'm wanting to give a unique gift to family and friends for next Christmas and thought that creating a model and having it 3D printed and painted would be really cool!

But I'm having difficulty finding somewhere that does such a service. Does anyone know of a place I can send a model file to, have it "printed" out and sent to me?

Thanks!

yeah most sites I've seen seem to be for corporate uses. I was wondering if anyone knew of a company that did such things for more personal occasions.

Thanks though!

I know a friend that is giong to school and work with maya nd they have one there .... he prints from

wondering if you have any schools out your way ..maybe you can use your fame and status to use one for a lecture or small book autographs ?

i know schools in my area allow you to print at a small price ..smaller than corporate stuff ...just a thought ..

ahhh technology... it sucks so much trying to be on the edge of it if your pockets arent DEEP... a year ago i was interested on the laser printing, and went as far as to ask the local companys... they were willing to print a model the sice of the belcebob in that site for a mere 2000€... maybe the time is right to ask the prices again...

Its still very expensive here in Australia too. Mind you, you could go out and buy a printer for $20000US. If you could get the work, it would be very quick to pay off. The Aerospace company I contract for are going to be getting one soon (in the next few months).

Cheers
