Small simple problem....?

ok i know this sounds really dumb but for some reason some setting changed in maya for me. I used to be able to click on an object, scale it, then click on another object fine. But now when i scale/move/rotate an object then click on a completely different object, it is in scale/move/rotate mode from the previous object. Anyone know how to make it so after you scale an object and click another one, it just has object mode?

Sometimes your select by component button will accidentally switch on and off. Click on the left button to select objects correctly. The right button forces you to select objects by components.
