This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Rendering floating abjects.

I've created an ocean, which is animating in playback and redering fine, however when i ad an object (cube) and make it float "make motor boats", it will animate fine in the playback but when i render out a short clip (approx 50 frames) the ocean animates but the object itself doesn't. The ocean still intersects around the object, spills over the edge etc, but the object doesn't move at all.

I've also noticed that when i close my scene and then reopen it i loose the animation of the floating object in the maya playback.

Any thoughts???

not sure what the answer might be on this but just to try a couple things....

I would keyframe the throttle when animating just to make sure its staying on, it just sounds like your boat isn't moving at all...

another thing you might want to check is to make sure that Free Transformation is not checked in the option box also, that might cause a problem or two for rendering...

Another thing you may have just a bad scene that loses information, if all else fails you can do the microsoft routine - restart the application and make a new scene

Honestly though I haven't had any problems using the ocean/boat so not sure how to fix it other than trying the above
