Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Attach nurbs surface problem

Can someone help me with this. Im trying to get these five nurbs curves to attach. This is from an online model of a rhino. in the part where the leg touches the body, 5 curves meet at one vert. i used the nurbs attach surface tool to attach most of them together but the way the model is constructed will cause the surfaces to attach across the unconnected nurbs surface. Can someone tell me what im doing wrong. i see this done all the time i just dont know how. here is a visual guide to better explain the problem.

you can't attach that. You'd have to use patch modeling. Or convert to Polys and attach.

hmmm.... well, the model i started from is Nurbs so... what is patch modelling maybe thats what it is. it sure isnt a poly with that small number of verts. though i do love my poly's.
