Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

too many polygons?

Hi all, help me solve this problem:
I made an object with ~5K polygons (basic colored textures). I duplicated 8 times it using instances and new group. First, it take about 20 min for this to happen, then when I try a duplicate the now 9 objects, times another 8 (for a final 320,000 polygons), it takes like 3 h before it crashes! repetely/

My configuration is : 2Gig RAM/ 2X246 AMD/ Nvidia FX1100
I put all my savings on this machine and am extremely disapointed by such performance.
What's going on? I thought MAYA was supposed to handle more polygons than that.

got it!

Got it! It was the graphics driver! It has to be the one recomended by Alias, not the most recent one from the manufacturer.
Now the system is smooth when compared with how it was before.
Thanks chief!
