This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Subaru Impreza GT WIP

Good evening guys! I started modeling this car on Friday evening and here's where I'm at now. It's my first ever car modeling project, and I'm really fascinated by the results so far. Never thought I could do anything like this. user added image

I know there are some bulky and uneven places on the car, but gonna try to sort them out later.

I-Iybrid: I started out with a single polygon plane and have been doing quite a lot of edge extruding. user added image

Here's a little update; Tweaked the model a bit and inserted the door.

And the wire mesh:

nice, how did you do the air intakes? Are they separate pieces of geometry?

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated.

The center intake on the hood is in the same object as the hood, but the intake on the roof and the two side-intakes on the hood are separate objects.

No tutorial was used with this car. I watched some low poly and high poly wire meshes of cars and got the basic idea how it's done. So far it has been quite easy, bit still wondering how to make the lights fit in those holes. Maybe I'll find a way during the weekend with the help of beer. user added image user added image

I'm currently working on the back wing. And it's nearly finished, but gonna tweak it. I'll post a render of it when it's done.

the vertical bar at the back of the drivers window looks like it has a funny kink about half way down, is it meant to be like that?

other than that its looking great user added image
