SGI acquired by Rackable
I just thought that everyone should know since SGI was involved in the development of Maya in the late 1990s.
Perhaps what is amusing that buying enough SGI kit for 25 animators would have probably cost more than $25 million in the 1990s.
How SGI has fallen.

Wow!
I owned a SGI Octane2 for a year, and sold it 4 months ago. Great machines, very very solid hardware and super OS. Pity about lack of support from the mips processor line.

I must agree, the Octane is a pretty cool machine!
Also, after reading the customer letters, it seems SGI is merging with Rackable rather than being acquired. They also hinted at a new system called UltraViolet... I wonder what it is?

After working on IRIX 6.5 i truly miss it, so efficient and uncluttered!
