Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Ah, very cool... you should design a tool kit user added image.. with a lot of those copied, with different colored handles, and different bits at the end. In a red case user added image. Its nice, looks pretty real user added image.

Well, since you have the screwdriver, I guess there's a question that needs asking here. Wanna screw?

LOL!

Nice model.

ello,

right I want to add a little white text onto the handle of the screwdriver. Its modelled in polys and there is a bump applied onto a phong texture. I have awhite on black label and the best I can come up with is this following image - obviously this sucks!! I want to place just one of those little white labels further to the right up the handle.

Any ideas??

Man, that looks 100% better! Nice work. How do you fix the texture? Depends, how did you texure it, as far ast the UV map goes, is it projected, or.. what? Thanks,
Brian

cheers for the reply,

yeah I projected it using a layered texture - you can see the shader network below.

Could I have set out the UVs in the UV texture editr - taken a snapshot and created the texture in photoshop?? I know nothing about texturing.

cheers
