Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Here are some work in progress on the nazi´s body and an ear I modeled separately. I´m planning to reuse as many models as I can, because of the tight deadline.

I´m not all the way thru modeling that I could be, but I have a part-time job that I have to deal with.

I hope to be able to even texture things here. But it´s almost a dream, considering the time :-) One thing that I´m afraid of is the way I´m working on this. I don´t like to give up on my "quality expectations" because of the hurry.

About my method:
Poly-by-poly for the face, box modeling for the body, using CPS tools and MJ poly tools (interesting: some of their features seems to be standard, built-in in Maya 7. At least it´s what they say in the alias site).
I´m a self-taught person. Never stopped to learn maya in a serious fashion (some web tutorials here an there). But now I´m buying books, dvds etc and organizing my self-imposed 6 month "self-classes". Hehe.

Does anyone know if the deadline is "until the end of August 31st" or "before August 31st"?

I am not positive, but I think the deadline is midnight August 30th. Nice modeling, good luck.

Yeah,

If the deadline is midnight 31st, then I´m out. I don´t have all the day to work on it tomorrow. I think it´s over for me.
Anyway, it´s not a good practice to work this way, skipping steps through the process. So I´m going to finish the scene, working on it today, tomorrow, and the next few days.

Maybe I´ll put it in the Finished work section of the forum.

A still test in maya using the displacement generated in zbrush:

If I have August 31st to continue my scene, maybe I can finish it.

yeah hands are evil
they look a bit too flat at the mo, and knuckeless. Maybe the left pinky is too bent? Proberly just me, great start athos. Wow your going to have some late night geting this done in time! "may the force be with u"

Hhahaha. Thanks, Meredith. I could add: "May the time walk very slowly with me".

Yeah, the hand is still knuckleless and "detailless" (I don´t know if this word exists).

Right know I´m in doubt: Do I model the details in maya, spliting polygons, adding wrinkles etc, or take this basic hand into zbrush and put the details in the displacement map? The question behind it is the same: TIME.

All right, I think I´ll model all those wrinkles in maya. Too many displacements can give me problems when going to render, maybe.

About the pinky... I´ve modeled this hand with a photo reference in an image plane. The guy really has this bent pinky. I think I prefer those little imperfections in anatomy.
