This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
Hello - I have recently started working on my first non organic project and so I thought that I would post an image of what I have done so far - mostly cogs and other pieces.
I am not really sure how geometry works on non organic objects - as in what is needed and what isn't. For example, if you look at one of the gears, I am assuming that I don't need all of those edges going from the center of the cog to the teeth. Any advice or other comments or crits are much appreciated as always.
I have made a small video of the toy in action to show you what it does. It would be cool to animate, but I think that that is a bit beyond me at the moment, so I am just concentrating on modelling and textures.
I would love to animate it - especially working out how the gears would work - but as I said, I haven't done any animating so far and so I am just focussing on modelling and textures for the time being.
I have been entertaining family this week and so my wind up toy and vacuum guy are on hold at the moment. :shakehead
I am sure it's not too difficult to find somewhere that sells one of these toys. I did a quick google search on 'sparklz' and found a few places straight away.
Here is another small update - I managed to do a couple of hours today - still putting some of the cogs into place, lining things up and cutting holes here and there.
