'White Set' Rendering tutorial wanted.

This is quite hard describe, but there's a style of shot that is used a lot in advertising and book/magazine illustrations, where a simple model is shot against a pure white seamless floor and background. It sounds easy, but getting the beautiful diffuse softness, and very soft shadows is proving difficult.
I think it may require a combination of lots of soft lights and GI, but I was hoping someone might know of a tutorial?

Thanks

Steve
