Rendering problem

hello all user added image

i have set up a scene in maya and i want to render it with mental ray. everything works except it wont render with final gather or image based lighting. It only renders the point lights in the scene so i dont get proper lighting. Please help

I don't even know what a mental ray is... BUT try going under the Render menu set then Render > Render Using > mental ray. Hope i helped.

your question is a bit vague to get a helpful answer really... have you tried simplfiying your scene down to a sphere and a plane and seeing if the IBL lighting works on that. If it does then you can say that it's your scene and not MR. Just saying "it doesn't work help!" isn't going to get you too far user added image

ok,
i have done what ya said and it still doesn't work so i think it is a problem with MR. i also re-installed MAYA but it still wont render the scene. It will either render it without any IBL or final gather (and so on) or it will start rendering out but then it will suddenly stop and i will be left with an .iff file.

Here are my rendering settings if it helps.

Edit: ive also tried it with the software renderer and it worked.
