Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Hiro Protagonist

Inspired by the great Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson I will try to model the main character from the book, Hiro Protagonist. He's a japanese/american cross-breed, hacker and fights with katana and wakisashi etc.
Sort of a bad ass.

Started on the torso. Havn't really got any concept for the characher, i'll try to create something with my pencils perhaps..

Added legs.

Both the torso and the legs need alot more detail, but I figure doing the basic shape of the character before starting to get too anal is the right thing.

Thanks for the comments user added image

Started on the arms, trying to get the flow from the back and breast muscles to connect correctly. Think I am doing ok.

His upper body looks a little out of proportion to his legs, will try do something about that tomorrow or so.
:bandit:

c&c appreciated!

I started to think last night before I fell asleep, maybe I'm adding to much muscle detail to the character as it is now... He's going to wear some sort of futuristic motorcycle riding suit, so the contour of his muscles prabably won't be that noticeable..

Thanks mate user added image I hope you find the book user added image

I started on a poly mesh, even though I think it would be better to just do a really rough poly shape and do the detailing in subD. Problem is I really have no skill with subDs at all. Any good tutorials to link me to? :bandit:

Thanks RubberChicken, hopefully the character will look something like it aswell.. user added image

More or less finished with the arm. might need to make it bigger/smaller at some places, but the general shape is there.

Not sure what the next step will be. hands, maybe..
