Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

March Challenge - Environment - Acid44

I'll try for this one I suppose. Gonna do a broken down nuclear plant. Chernobyl style.

So far I've got some buildings and transformers, next I think I'll be doing some of those big electrical towers leading away from the plant, then some more buildings and background bits, such as (maybe) a wrecked car or two, some blown up boxes, etc.

Any help is appreciated, as I know nothing of environment/architectural modeling D:

Heres what I have so far, hopefully more will be done tonight. (Background and lighting etc. in this render is just to get an idea of what it'll be like, not final. I just wanted a quick render to see it all together)

Click to enlarge, again for full size.

Nice... I was half expecting you to be doing a garage environment... just so you had an excuse to model some more cars. lol

Haha, I was thinking of that, but then in HonestDom's thread about freelance work he mentioned it would have to do with a nuclear reactor or something and it clicked in my head that it may be a good challenge to do a nuclear plant user added image

Just wanted to let out a quick update; I did some more work on this on Thursday, but never got around to posting it. Tried to get out another test render before I had to go out for the weekend, but the program I use for renders crashed and I didn't have time to set it up again (forgot to save after setting up the materials).

Anyways, I should be home sometime today, and I'll be updating as soon as I get home

Bump, for a life status update user added image

I decided not to go home yet (enjoying my time away) I probably will sometime this coming week, but not entirely sure. That being said, it's already the 17th, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish in time. Hoping to though. But if you were looking forward to this for some reason, I'm definitely going to continue it afterward as a WIP, I'm having a lot of fun with it user added image

Last time I was home, I did manage to get a lot of wiring some scaffolding little bits and bobs, and the cable tower things done though, and got out a quick render for my friend, so I'll show that for now. All hope is not lost! (Just most of it) lol

Power pylons?

@Bullet - The windmill is there cause I'm using the nuclear plant beside my old house as a lot of reference, Pickering Nuclear. Which happens to host the largest windmill in North America (unless someone's got a bigger one now) user added image

Ahhh those things user added image I'm probably going to end up redoing them at some point, at the time I wasn't really sure how to go about it and just got excited that it was recognizable user added image
