Simple_dog_shape tutorial

Im working on the simple dog tutorial and right off the bat im stuck.He first makes a cube and then converts it to sub-d followed by selecting the faces and extruding it.For me the problem is selecting the faces and extruding it because maya gives me and error saying "Error:polyEXTRUDEFACEt works on polygon facces.Any ideas?

Sorry foxhound - right:

After you make your shape and while you convert there is an option box under the convert - poly to sub

make sure you select "proxy object" I have mine set for default here so missed it on the vid...

just keeping you on your toes

your standards slip, usually you reset every tool and say so in the tuts user added image
