Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

The Cellar (First WIP in ages)

Hi all,
After loosing a bunch of crap from my old computer i got really uninterested in maya and lost so much inspiration and motivation to continue on. I have recently gotten back into it again and i am starting by creating my first real enviroment scene. I am going for a stylised (Is that the right word for it) style...
Hope ya'll like it so far. Updates might be slow but stay tuned user added image

Edit: Just realised that someone else is doing a cellar... this may change a bit now. Maybe a basement...

Thanks,
I am going for a contrasting look. I have re-lit the scene so you can see more and i have started on the walls. Eventually the room will be filled with boxes and junk as well as light beams (Which i am still trying to work out) and other crap.

Thanks user added image
Here is a zoomed out shot with the lights. Its really not that complicated. just a point light, directional light and a dome with shadows turned off. Rendered in MR with final gather turned on.

For that one all i did was cut a sphere in half, reverse the normals and turn ambience and coulor and all that up to maximum. I'll make a more detailed explanation later.

Glad i could help user added image
Update...
I am going for a really old feel, like this hasn't been touched for years. Just started on some objects. I am probably gonna model some more boxes and a tapestry thing, or at least something clothey and teared cause i haven't really done that before. I am basically making this up as i go along so that way i can concentrate on the feel and look of the picture instead of the technical planning stuff i always get stuck on.

I got the avatar from a site called Uncyclopedia. I thought it was funny.

More updates should come over the weekend.

Nice work so far. Irregularities look great.
