Cannon

Hi Chaps!

Just thought I would try making a simple model just to keep my hand in with Maya - especially on the Mac user added image

Really, this is just an excercise for me to try and get my head around using network shading in Hypershade, and planar and projection maps... It always seemed easier in Cinema but I wanna do it in Maya. So more textured versions with moody lighting smoke and fire to follow. Comments welcome and encouraged, like how do I get the NURBS wheels to be more rounded?

Next model will be a 18th Century Royal Navy Man o' War user added image

To get the nurbs wheel to be more rounded, you could add isosparms in where needed. The cannon/barrel/whatever its called (the silver part), the bump map looks abit too....bumpy/big. Just my opinion tho. user added image

looks nice... the only thing that bothers me is the way that the two metal parts of the cannon intersect...it looks wierd...or maybe thats how its supposed to be?..just my opinion...

Opinions noted and I agree with you both! I haven't had much time to finish this model, I am currently working on some animation cycles for a competition. But when I have won the competition user added image I'LL BE BACK!!!

You could tweak the render tesselation in the wheels mate.
You can even view render tesselation before rendering.
