Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Star Wars: Republic Cruiser

Hi

I'm modelling this Republic Cruiser for a Star Wars fan film I'm doing some sfx for

It isn't going to be an exact copy of the one used in the film, the director wants it to be slightly altered so it looks a bit modified
Plus as it only appeared in the film for a very short time there aren't that many reference picture of it

Talk about detail! This is looking great. I cant wait to see it fully textured. How did you know to put all that stuff there? Did you make it all up?

I was given this link

Republic Cruiser

I made a lot of the little detail up to fit around the general geometry I've seen in these images on that site coz some of the pictures seem quite fuzzy

Wow, so much detail! Do you model after a blueprint, or are you such a star wars freak, that you know inside out where every nut is placed?user added image

Well, when I would listen to these great soundtracks while modeling, I would have to concentrate on the superb musicuser added image.
