Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

bumped up its magnitude to 500 and the direction (at the bottom of channel box) to X 2

and now the sprites come toward the camera and so now the texture.

I got a Lambert, put my butterfly file with an alpha channel on it, or some form of transparency (up to you) and assigned it to the sprites by selecting the sprites and 'assign to selected.'
