Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

October Challenge - Gazzamataz - Newbie?

Well, due to Mr McKinley's vicious, pugnacious and despotic decrees I find myself entering into the October Competition.

This will be a learning curve for me as I have never really animated properly in Maya... or anything else for that matter user added image

I shall be using my games character 'Loki' as he was dubbed and possibly some other creations of mine - if I have the time...

Oh my god what have I let myself in for! I won't be posting a storyboard cos that will be spoiling the suprise of the finished animation - plus I don't want you all laughing at my efforts:p

Teaser

O.K. I couldn't resist putting this little teaser together cos I wanted to get a little practice at animating in Maya.

It is slighty large at 2.5mb but I couldn't seem to get it any smaller - sorry to the 56k gang out there. It is in *.mov format using the Sorenson 3 codec.

Enjoy! BTW I have spent a bit of time rigging my other characters but i should have a finished item by 31st October...

Whoops! Just realised that the posting limit is 2mb user added image

Have had another go at compressing it and got it down to 1.8mb - it's amazing what you can do when you try harder ain't it user added image

Dankyou, dankyou, dankyou... It was fun putting this flick together - very much a learning curve but an enjoyable one!

I could still spend hours ponsing about on making the animation real smooth but I have a competition to finish and as you can see a rather grumpy actor user added image

Nice final, I like the big green guy - the bit where he pops poor Loki in his mouth is very well done. Cool.

Errr I wasn't sure either... I did ask and they said that the mods would decide!

Thing is I am a bit of a newbie with Maya but I have done animating before in my other program Animation Master, and I wouldn't consider myself to be a newbie in that program.

Newbie animator no, newbie-ish Maya user perhaps - let the mods decide.

I'll wait for the lambrettas to start turning up - I bet Kevin will have the biggest scooter user added image
